Description
Authentic Connection: Foundations III
Have you completed Brooklyn NVC’s Foundations I and II courses OR taken 40 hours of NVC training?
If so, please join us for AUTHENTIC CONNECTION, a Foundations III (Intermediate level) training in Nonviolent Communication. Do you want:

* Ability to respond to the most challenging situations?
* Ease in using colloquial NVC (“street giraffe”)?
* Community and companionship with those living NVC in New York City?
If so, consider participating in Authentic Communication! Topics covered in this course will be:
* Four ears (four NVC choices we have in responding to difficult-to-hear messages); the NVC “dance”
* Distinguishing needs from strategies; stimulus from cause
* NVC on the job (range of depth in responding to feelings and needs)
* Idiomatic/”street” giraffe
* Value-based (life-serving) decision making/decision making based on needs-assessment
* “Dogging” for our needs (persisting vs demanding; shift vs compromise)
* Mourning and learning from our regrets; NVC “apologies”
* Receiving gratitude; translating approval, compliments, & praise
Who might be interested in this course? Anyone who wants to:
* Deepen the fluency and ease of their NVC practice
* Take a “hands-on,” kinaesthetic approach to learning NVC

The Foundations Program
"Authentic Connection" is the third in a six-part Foundations Program that gives a solid grounding in the practice of Nonviolent Communication. Each course includes 20 hours of training, is limited to 18 participants (other NVC courses we offer, such as at the NY Open Center, include up to 40), and most courses (depending on class size) have one-two assistant trainers to maximize the level of coaching and support each participant receives. The program is interactive and makes use of diverse learning modalities, including exercises, games, role plays, and pair work; between classes, participants are asked to complete reading, exercises at home, and to meet briefly (usually ten minutes) by phone with an empathy buddy to practice what they've learned in class that week. We consistently receive celebratory emails about the Foundations Program, with participants expressing delight with the level of modelling, learning, integration and community they experience. Come join us for this unique experience!
Course Fee
The fee for this program is on a sliding scale of $325-$525 for the entire 20 hour/8 week program, with a median of $425. Contributing at the mid range and above ($425) supports those getting to take this program who, for financial reasons, would be unable to do so.
